The video game industry is a highly competitive and dynamic market, with developers constantly pushing the boundaries of technology and innovation to offer players the best gaming experience. However, in the midst of this fast-paced environment, it is also important for game developers to be transparent and honest with their players. Recently, the game developer Blizzard has come under scrutiny for their handling of the "Blessing of the Worthy" gem in their game Diablo Immortal. In October 2022, players of Diablo Immortal discovered discrepancies in the description of the gem, which was sold in various in-game bundles for up to $100. The gem's description stated that it granted a 20% chance to do damage worth 12% of a player's maximum life at upgrade levels one and two. However, at level 3, the description was written that the gem's effect would have a 20% chance to do damage worth 12% of a player's current life. This functionality, which deals damage based on current life rather than maximum life, has been widely criticized by players, as it greatly diminishes the gem's effectiveness in situations where a player's current life is low. Many players have called out Blizzard for not being clear on the gem's description and for misleading players. In response to the backlash, Blizzard later acknowledged the confusion and changed the description of the gem's levels 1 and 2 to match the level 3 description which was more accurate. However, the damage had already been done, with many players feeling cheated and misled. Now, class action specialty firm Migliaccio & Rathod has started an investigation into Diablo Immortal's description of the gem, which the firm calls "false advertising." The firm is currently looking for players who purchased the gem and were upset about its effect due to its "false advertising" to join a potential class action lawsuit. It is important for game developers to be transparent and honest with their players, as trust is a crucial element in building a strong and loyal player base. Misrepresenting in-game items can lead to disappointment, frustration and a loss of trust from the players. #DiabloImmortal #FalseAdvertising #ClassAction #VideoGameIndustry #Blizzard
