Ubisoft has reported that its Nintendo collaboration, Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope, underperformed commercially in the final weeks of 2022 and early 2023. The company cites "worsening macroeconomic conditions" as the main reason for the poor sales, as well as a shift in consumer spending towards "mega-brands and long-lasting titles." CEO Yves Guillemot believes that the game will still be able to perform well despite its underwhelming launch. The company also announced the cancellation of three unannounced titles and a delay for the release of Skull and Bones.
