❓Who or what influenced your artworks and art style the most at your early steps? Tell us about your journey.
🗣 There are many artists who made a great influence on me. Most of them are Japanese. For example, Takeya Takayuki, Yasushi Nirasawa, Simon Lee, Sazen, and many other artists at home and abroad. I started working with models about 10 years ago at GK. But I was mostly painting. I wasn’t doing any prototype design. However, I always hoped I could create my own works and sell my own products. I’ve been making my own work for over a year now and have even participated in exhibitions.
❓How did you start your professional career and how did you come to that?
🗣 My career began this year. After playing with models for so many years, I hoped I could also try and create my own works. I hope others can collect their own works, too. So, I hope I can stick to this.
❓What hardware and software tools are you using at your workspace and why?
🗣 I basically use software like 3D Max, Zbrush, Photoshop, Chitubox, and Topogun
❓What do you think is the best way to work for you: full-time, freelance or part-time?
🗣 I think freelancing would be more suitable for me, because I would be able to do the design I like. When you have an idea, you can create whenever you have the time to. Just don't let other things affect you. But, regretfully, I have a part-time job now and use spare time on creative work. Because in China, this is necessary to survive. Although it's hard, I like it very much, taking into account my hobbies. We just have to use the time after work to create what we want.
❓What was your most challenging project so far and why?
🗣 There are many challenging projects. For instance, I created the "ant pile" by myself. It takes a long time and a lot of heart to create things like that, design from start to finish, then test it piece by piece, print, fix many times, combine — there are so many difficulties. But in the end, I overcame them one by one and am still excited of the result.
❓What do you think are some portfolio "must-haves" as a freelance artist/2D artist/3D artist?
🗣 There are too many of them. I didn't pay much attention to the name and just kept working hard to improve my skills. I keep all of them either for reference or for inspiration.
❓What do you think is the most important thing artists need to develop to succeed?
🗣 Enthusiasm, the urge to be yourself
❓What is your dream project or art direction that you're starving to try?
🗣 I want to try everything. But, mainly, I want to create my own original works.
❓Can you tell us about a personal or a professional project you are proud of?
🗣 I just love creating works from my own imagination.
❓Is there anything you learned in the industry that you didn't expect?
🗣 Finishing my own work from nothing. This is a very strong sense of achievement.
❓What are you passionate about and do you have any hobbies besides art?
🗣 I love getting together with my whole family and listening to music, dancing, and creating my own works.
❓If you had just one question about anything that you could ask and get an answer to, what would it be?
🗣 I didn't think of that.
